Maintenance and Service

The international standards and regulations considered this subject more extensively and organizations such as NFPA, FM Global has been sourced for international standards. According to user’s request and danger level at these standards 1, 2 or 4 times a year maintenance should be done.

Fire systems are divided into 6 sections with according to main topics.
  • Fire Pumps (Elect. Diesel And Jockey)
  • Control Valve Group
  • Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
  • Fire Extinguishing Systems
  • Fire Cabinets
  • Hydrant Lines

Fire systems are passive mobile (fire detection, control valves, pumps) or stationary systems and designed to operate for 60 minutes average when they work.

Therefore, a system not maintained cannot be known whether operates. At the same time, a system without performance testing cannot be known at what power and for what time it may operate.

As a result, maintenance work must be performed by fire companies specialized in fire system and which know standards in - this issue. One of the first and most important systems in fire protection of buildings and industrial buildings is fire detection and extinguishing system. Fire detection and extinguishing systems allow opportunity to intervene fire quickly by warning of field elements and increases the life and property security. After the installation of fire extinguishing systems, mechanical and electronic system maintenance should be done for sure. Fire Protection Systems General Provisions

Fire extinguishing systems cover all fixed extinguishing systems used in tunnels and buildings, port, dock, subway, open land enterprises within the scope of this Regulation. The requirements specified in this section are minimum requirements and does not constitute an obstacle for choice of superior quality and higher-performance systems.

Extinguishing system installed in the buildings will be designed to prevent damage to the building, to prevent panic and to extinguish fire and it will be established and will be kept working such order.

Fire-fighting systems should have capacity to extinguish the fire in any structure and during the economic life of the structure system should be operated automatically and / or manually when required and should be able to fulfill its duty cycle.

Fixed fire extinguishing systems and qualifications of installations, the type and amount of equipment to be used, their placement will be determined according to building and types of materials kept in the building. Systems and / or equipment to be used in systems will be certified.

All kinds of fire-fighting systems shall be designed in accordance with the relevant TSE standards and installation regulations will be established and approved. Any system, apparatus, equipment and operating procedures required by this Regulation will be subject to maintenance in order to ensure continuous performance and continuity of operations once installed, unless otherwise specified in these regulations. Maintenance works will be carried out in accordance with the minimum requirements laid down in this Directive and if there are additional maintenance requirements in TSE standards over the requirements laid down in this Regulation these requirements will be also provided additionally as well.

Design and implementation of the extinguishing systems to be installed in buildings shall be subject to control and approval by authorized entities. Systems and devices requiring periodic testing and maintenance shall be subject to testing and maintenance under supervision of building owner, manager or building officer authorized by them in writing according to format stipulated by the relevant authority.

Periodic Testing and Maintenance

All fire extinguishing systems required in this regulation shall be subject to testing and maintenance under supervision of building owner, manager or building officer authorized by them in writing according to format stipulated by the relevant authority.

All newly installed systems will be subjected to initial tests. After acceptance procedures are concluded as satisfactory and sufficient by authorized entities together with testing and inspection reports as-built replicated copies of installation projects, equipment, operating and maintenance instructions, maintenance time, system operating instructions for building will be delivered owners, managers or responsible person building.
Storage of these documents for the life of the system and periodic testing and maintenance service contracts and keeping available for examination of authorized entities will be the responsibility of the building owner, manager or building responsible person. When cancellations or additions are made to the system or when any changes to the system, hardware, repair are made re-acceptance tests will be done.

Written reports will be issued regarding all inspection and testing procedures specified in this section and will be retained in the building by building owner, manager or building responsible person.
